Other than these aspects, it is not terribly different from driving a taxi, except that the population that uses Uber is either more wealthy or wants to be seen as though they are, they tend to be dominated by the tech crowd, who are in love with anything from their corner of the world and often dominated by young, often highly intoxicated people.
Regarding what it's like to drive for Uber, the other half of the question has to do with the limo company, and my personal experience has been one of frequent great frustration, but of course that is not Uber's fault, it is their partner's, and neither party appears yet to be especially responsive to these matters so far as I have seen. Other than this use of the system, I largely depend on my knowledge of the city I work, which I acquired because I learned how to drive here and because I have over a decade of experience driving people as a cab driver. According to an Uber software engineer, there is nothing they can do about this. This results in wasted time and gas on my part and generates great frustration for me and the clients, who often comment. I can and FREQUENTLY do receive an order that turns out is anywhere from a block to a dozen blocks away from where I go to find the client. On a given night, I can have the system misdirect me to a client a half dozen times or more. That leaves something to be desired, VERY desired. The actual GPS feature used by Uber depends on Google Maps. I put it in such neutral terms on purpose. My experience with the use of the Uber app is that most of the time, it's OK. The result of this dichotomy is that most likely depending on how well or how poorly the limo company manages its fleet will impact the drivers experience directly.
